1991 Dodge Spirit, 4 Cylinder Automatic $2,500
This car is good basic
transportation. It has PS, PB,
Tilt, Cruise and air…. all working. It has 91,000 miles To look at the car or drive it you would expect it to have more like 60,000 miles and be 4 or 5 years old. The 3 speed automatic transmission feels tight. The ignition switch is new. The air conditioning works fine as it spent the past two years in Phoenix. The battery is new. I replaced the water pump and timing belt at about 86,000. The tires are about 70%. There are no dash cracks and there is no damage to soft interior parts. I have driven the car to and from Phoenix several times in the past two years and would not hesitate to drive it cross-country today. The negatives are… the dome light doesn’t work and it is a wiring or switch issue, not the bulb. The car spent its early life in Iowa and has more under side rust than the body appearance would suggest. Typical of red upholstery there is a bit of fade on spots like the top of the back seat. As our 5 kids came of driving age we bought each of them a Dodge Spirit. We picked this one up with about 55,000 miles showing. If you look at CarFax you will note 5 title changes since 55,000 miles…. They were all in the family between one of the kids and us. We found the Spirits to
be extremely reliable, crash worthy and easy to maintain. Now that the kids have
graduated from college we are selling off the Spirit fleet.
Others Spirits in the kid fleet have as many as 165,000 miles and remain
daily drivers.
The MAAD ribbon on the antenna is in memory of a 20 year old niece killed by a young mother with .3 blood alcohol driving the wrong way on an Interstate near Seattle. Please use a designated driver so that you don't join the young lady now doing time... she has 9 years left.
I had committed the sale of this vehicle a month and a half ago but the purchaser couldn't come up with the money so it is back on the market. My apologies to anyone that I told it was sold at that time.
This car has many good miles left and would make a good starter car for another kid.
