This website is the internet sand box of Mike and Merlin.  It is home to both those things that excite us and those things that are simply important personally and politically.

AutoColorado originated as a DECA project for Mike about 1997.  The concept was two fold:

1) An "Automotive Portal"..... a single organized place to go to map to anything automotive.

2) The second leg of the concept was an online Automotive Classified.

The first leg was completed along with a very complete business plan and made it to Colorado state DECA competition where it ran into a team of judges that didn't know what a keyboard was, let alone the internet. They couldn't comprehend words like "Portal", "Link", "Web Publishing" and "baud" and a very well done project never made it to DECA Nationals.

The online classified was never implemented but Cars.com and Autotrader.com have now successfully implemented similar concepts.

Mike maintained the site until his Junior year in college when studies, off-roading and the other sex consumed all of his spare time.  We retained the URL but dropped the actual site until 2005. Today the web page is being re-born.

Politically, we are conservatives that subscribe to the belief suggested in the  title of Michael Savage's book, "Liberalism is a Mental Disorder" and recommend "Men in Black", "Blog" , "How to Talk to a Liberal if you Must" and "Shut up and Sing" for your reading list.

We are concerned about the denial of freedoms that the leftists champion in pursuit of their socialist causes. Taken to their extreme there is no fuel, no off-roading, no public highways and we are all forced to bicycle or use public transportation.

We are concerned about their belief that the entire world can sit around doing dope singing "cum bae ya" and the world's problems will evaporate.

Liberals have a major disconnect between the need to perpetually renew our lease on freedom, often with military struggle and their right to condemn the very government that allows them to sing their favorite song!  The following says it best:

It is the Soldier

It is the soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us the freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,
Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer,
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the soldier,
Who salutes the flag,
Who serves under the flag,
And whose coffin is draped in the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
